Luke wins Football Superstar

19 year old Canberra contestant Luke Pilkington last night defeated two Brissy boys for the FOX8 reality title.

fb19 year old Canberra contestant Luke Pilkington was last night named the winner of FOX8’s Football Superstar.

In the second season of the show hosted by Brian McFadden and Lee Furlong, Pilkington faced off against Brisbane boys Christopher Kozionas and Jack Petrie for the title.

He wins a one year contract with Hyundai A-League champions Melbourne Victory, alongside a scholarship with Monash University, Melbourne.

“Luke Pilkington is a very respectful, mature and enthusiastic footballer and person,” said Melbourne Victory Coach Ernie Merrick.

“He brings many strengths to his football – he is technically very good, physically he has speed but also endurance and he is tactically knowledgeable. Luke is a left footer, which is hard to find, and he can play in range of positions including left back and left midfield.”

Pilkington will commence playing for the Melbourne Victory youth side immediately, and training alongside the Melbourne Victory first team.

    1. The problem is it stays in the archive that way too. For a show like Football Superstar it might not matter so much. But think about MasterChef or Idol. TV Tonight would have to write “Idol Winner Announced” as a headline and never get to say “Idol 2008: It’s Wes!” And then when we compare to others like Daily Tele or The Age it’s already out there. This is a problem too for WA viewers. The answer? Consistency. The worst thing I can do is vary this ruling on this site because that helps nobody. If it’s aired in Oz (incl only on the East Coast) it is news. I hold off on Eurovision etc until it airs. Sunday I will log MC winner ahead of it airing in WA obviously.

  1. I liked Luke, he was a good footballer and seemed like a nice guy as well..good on him..hope he does well…incase hes not 18 yet, I wont comment on whether or not I think hes cute *winks*

  2. FOX8 is replaying the finale tonight at 7.30pm (Thursday) in case viewers chose State of Origin instead last night.

  3. If you watched all the episodes you would have put your money on one of the Brisbane boys to win with Chris Kozionas scoring 10 goals over 7 games in the competition.

    Congratulations to Luke.
