TEN to film Bob Hawke telemovie

A new political drama for Channel TEN begins filming in Melbourne in August.

hawkeChannel TEN will soon commence production on a telemovie centered around Bob Hawke, simply titled Hawke.

Hawke was Australia’s longest serving Labor Prime Minister from 1983 – 1991, when he was eventually de-throned by his Treasurer, Paul Keating. Hawke himself toppled Malcolm Fraser, who was a lead character in TEN’s most acclaimed political drama, The Dismissal, produced by Kennedy Miller in 1983.

If this is half as good as that it should make for terrific television.

No cast are yet announced for the project, which begins shooting in Melbourne in August.

TEN is also filming the Caroline Byrne telemovie A Model Daughter.

  1. The Dismissal was indeed made by Kennedy Miller for Ten.

Who is making “Hawke”? Not Kennedy Miller, that’s for sure. And not Ten. Ten only does soap.
