Todd McKenney reckons that producers gave him the thumbs up to be a nasty judge again. So he Twittered his thoughts all through the show.

dw2Todd McKenney reckons that producers gave him the thumbs up to be a nasty judge again.

But they may not have accounted for him Twittering during Sunday night’s Dancing with the Stars, in which he let rip on contestants and fellow judges.

Nastiest comment of all was left for fellow judge, Mark Wilson.

dw“People keep trying to get me to bad mouth my friend Mark’s hair – I’m not going there…except to say ‘Get that animal off his head!'” he wrote.

He also said of Adam Brand, “he’s proof that country singer’s can’t dance!!!” and of judge Helen Richie, “Just saw Helen in her underwear – according to her she looks fabulous, according to me she looks scary.”

Other comments during the show included, “Lincoln was okay but not brilliant. Didn’t like how Helen did the crack on him. Didn’t like Mark’s Zac Efron line. Not a good start.”

Then there was: “Awful, just awful – yuk – pub dancing like that has no place on this show! Standard had better improve or I’ll walk.”

“I kept being told to put my phone away during the breaks – no way – I’m sticking it to the man!” he said.

A year ago during a tumultuous personal period, McKenney was very grateful for network loyalty. Will his fellow judges and producer be wanting the same in return?

  1. Helen Richie with very Poor taste??? get over the 80’s lovey….we live in the year of 2009.!!! whats wrong with the make up and fashion department in channel 7??

  3. todd – sorry but the show is about “entertainment” you are ripping these people apart , you old has been . I know your job is to “judge” but come on you arent judging professional dancers !!!!! they are people raising money for chariety.

    Sorry but I am over dwts , it needs a big facelift (bit like todd i Guess)

    Dwts works because of the team, not just Todd.
    And Daniel is so much easier on the eye and ears then Daryl Somers was!

  7. Ok, so none of you are going to agree with this but I do love Todd and his Twittering when it comes to DWTS and his radio show. Hell, he says what most people are thinking.

    Get over it everyone, it’s just another TV show, and Todd is not afraid to call it as it is. Even blind freddy (parden the pun) can see through that. Having said that he was brilliant with his dancing and I loved the judges honesty.

    And as for Mark’s hair – it is bloody terrible, and I agree with another members comments – ‘why don’t channel 7 tell him’…. They make it more difficult by saying nothing.

    Runs in corner and hides – ouch was that a knife I felt in my back.

    His ego is out of control.
    Let’s get back to judges being judges not “boosting their own ego or star status.

  10. Seriously, does Mark have a mirror? I know it’s a very personal thing, but surely someone at Seven could tell him how ridiculous it looks.

    He’s only popular on DWTS, his solo show a few years back bombed, his radio shows is bombing even worse. This guy needs this gig, otherwise he’ll be lost in the world of musical theatre.

  13. So typical of McKenney – he managed to get through that ‘personal period’ last year because of the support of the seven network, not the general public and then he goes and acts like this. Most people I know thought he should have been given the boot from Seven.

    I personally don’t know anyone who likes him or his catty comments on Dancing with the Stars – it’s interesting that Masterchef topped the Sunday night ratings this week partly because there is no nastiness, no vitriol, just likeable contestants, honest and friendly judges and very few egos. McKenney and the whole DWTS format is becoming boring and so predictable. McKenney should not take his role for granted and the other two judges just need to stand their ground and they will maintain their credibility. The viewing public are over judges who want to be the stars of the show at the expense of the contestants – look at the falling ratings of Australian Idol and McKenney look what happened to Mark Holden – …where is he now… you could be next!

  15. Strangely enough DWTS wouldn’t be the same without Todd as the viewers have a love/hate relationship with him.

    Can’t help but agree with Todd’s comment about Mark’s hair as I couldn’t take my eyes of it as it doesn’t suit Mark and looks so very ruggie……Oh, and Adam Brand can’t dance, we will have to wait and see if he improves.
