ABC acquires An Englishman in New York

Actor John Hurt reprises his role as Quentin Crisp for an ITV bio-flick, that has been picked up by the ABC.

englishman_in_new_york_01The ABC has picked up the feature-length ITV drama An Englishman in New York.

The drama features John Hurt as Quentin Crisp, an outspoken homosexual who sets off on the journey of a lifetime to New York City in the 1970s. Before long, he is being wined and dined by the Manhattan elite.

The cast also includes Cynthia Nixon, Jonathan Tucker, Swoozie Kurtz and Denis O’Hare.

Hurt previously played Crisp in The Naked Civil Servant in 1975.

Sarah Diggins, head of sales at distributor Leopard International, said: “The film has received a terrific reception at films festivals across the globe and now millions of viewers will have the opportunity to enjoy the performances of the stellar cast headed by John Hurt.”

It recently screened at Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
