Holly Hunter’s US cable drama Saving Grace will end with a nine-episode season next year.
Cable network TNT reportedly offered producer FOX TV Studios a full-blown fourth-season pickup, but the studio declined to accept it for financial reasons.
In the series, Holly Hunter plays a detective who gets “divine intervention” into her messed-up life in the form of an angel. The role has earned her two Emmy nominations.
Faced with the possibility for an abrupt end to the show, known for its woven story lines, TNT decided to order 3 extra episodes that would tie up all the loose ends.
“It’s been a fantastic beacon for the network, which has both challenged and entertained viewers in ways few other shows on television ever dare,” TNT programming chief Michael Wright said.
The show airs in Australia on Showcase.

Craig, great to know that Season 2 is running straight on from Season 1.
I’ve enjoyed this show, it’s a shame it won’t continue, there was a lot of room for development of the characters.
@Craig,
Season 2 of Saving Grace begins on Monday 21st of September- which is good news for saving grace fans. 🙂
Not sure yet,
Is this Season Three?
It’s a great show, just a pity we got it so late.
David do you know if S2 will be coming to Showcase right after S1 ends?
