AFL triggers knock-on effects to Gary Unmarried, Home & Away and Better Homes & Gardens in Melbourne, Adelaide & Perth.

Gary_UnmarriedViewers in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth are now getting the premiere of Gary Unmarried at 8pm this Thursday due to changes in AFL broadcasts, instead of 7:30pm.

Thursday Sept 3
7pm Home & Away (2 eps)
8pm Gary Unmarried (Pilot)
8:30pm The Amazing Race
9:30pm TV Burp
10:00pm Double Take
10:30pm Family Guy
11:00pm American Dad

Friday Sept 4 Melb / Ade
7pm Better Homes & Gardens
8pm AFL: Adelaide v Essendon
11:30pm Movie: Robocop

Updated: In Perth the game airs at 6:30pm, in Sydney & Brisbane the game will air at 9:30pm following an ep of Criminal Minds.

On Sunday Sept 6th the St Kilda v Collingwood match will start at 2:30pm in Melbourne.

As Seven was planning two Gary eps this week its scheduling will now be out by a week in some states unless it juggles How I Met Your Mother plans next week (hint, hint).

  1. @craig: Thanks to the anti syphoning laws, Channel Ten can’t show an AFL game on One before it is shown on Ten. Therefore the non-AFL states are deprived of prime time AFL on One. It’s one thing that I hope that changes with the review of the laws.

  2. 7 paid a heap of money to get the rights back and the afl want a new team up here. the created this mess by giving 7 the rights. i dont have a problem with it not being live. but when they advertise the game going to shown at 78:30. you would expect it to be on at that time. this is typical of 7 and their shotty way of covering sports. i hope the afl are looking at this

  4. Why would Seven show a game between Adelaide and Essendon live into Brisbane and Sydney when it’s just going to get smashed by the NRL. It would be a stupid move, as I recall when Seven showed a Brisbane Lions game on a Friday earlier in the year (in Brisbane) at 8.30pm it got absolutely hammered by the NRL.

  5. David can you confirm the Perth time, because on my EPG it says 6:30pm but on the Yahoo7 and a lot of internet ones it has now changed and says 8:30pm with Better Homes Than Yours on at 7:30pm.

    I hope they haven’t changed it back to usual because in case they haven’t realised, This is the finals!!!!

  6. ten will be upset about this move, there grand plan to expose The 7pm Project with a 1hour special has been counted by a 1hour Home and Away. I just thank God im in Melbourne cos the way AFL fans get treated up North is a discrace. Then again, there is aa majority of people up north that just dont giva a f*** about the AFL and its the minority that do that get punished

  10. Maybe ONE HD should get all of the AFL next year, with some matches on TEN, that way everyone (with FTA) can see all the matches…

    Gary Unmarried is good but not great, still worth a go just to see Paula Marshall on screen, she made a memorable appearance in Californication not too long ago.
