Grimshaw a fan of interviews

Tracy Grimshaw says it's taken 4 years for ACA to realise interviews are more than just boring, talking heads.

tgThis year Tracy Grimshaw has enjoyed validation for her interviews, notably with Nick D’Arcy, Matthew Johns and the ex-wife of Greg Norman, Laura Andrassy. They have helped push a point of difference from Today Tonight.

Today she tells the Sunday Herald Sun how she much she enjoys doing interviews.

“When I started on ACA there was an editorial view that interviews were talking heads and they were boring and people didn’t want to watch them,” she said.

“It’s taken four years, but I would say there’s been 100 per cent turnaround, from let’s avoid talking heads at all costs to, you know, ‘who are you going to talk to this week, Grimshaw?’ So why would I move now, having done that?”

This month’s interview with family members in the ‘Kyle & Jackie O radio prank’ dropped the ball.

Nevertheless, speculation that she could move to 60 Minutes has been on-going. But in every interview she has done (including for TV Tonight) she affirms her job satisfaction.

“I don’t know why suddenly there was some view that I couldn’t do A Current Affair any more,” she says. “I like where I am. I really like the people I work with very much.”

  1. @ mikeys, i agree ,sometimes they have good story about real and important issues, but then the second the story finishes it’s “comming up after the break, how too find the perfect bra”

  2. I’s say she’s just OK at interviewing, nothing to write home (or a blog) post) about, except for the fact that it really does make ACA less cringe worthy sometimes… But only for the 10-15 minutes then it’s right back on par with it’s other pig in the pen at that hour…
