The ABC has announced a new drama / comedy built around a struggling rock pub band from Sydney’s inner west, I ROCK.
Filming on the eight-part, half-hour series written by Josh Mapleston starts today, and is destined for ABC2.
Produced by David Fedirchuk and Rob Macdonald, it promises ‘sex, lies and loads of great original pub rock before culminating in an outrageous climax.’
Josh Mapleston (pictured) stars as Nash Taylor, who is described as an engaging mix of swagger and arrogance hiding a nerdish vulnerability, attempts to claw his way to the top of the rock & roll heap.
Amongst a cast of several newcomers is Mark Pound, Ashley Fitzgerald, Jeremy Keast, Alison Bell, Pat Ommundson, and Kate Sherman.
Executive Producer for ABC TV, Amanda Higgs, says, “We wanted young, edgy and fresh and we’ve got it with the I ROCK team.”
Could be a new age Sweet and Sour?
The series is expected to air in February.

I ROCK . . . will and does. Cheers to Fedirchuk, Macdonald, Mapleston, and the rest of the I ROCK family!
Can not wait until the show begins airing … soon …

A very reliable source tells me that I ROCK is definitely not a kid’s show.

that picture of josh screams – hi im acting as a rock star. look at my growl.
Sounds more like Not So Sweet and Sour. This sounds more adult. That show was more like a teen soapie or afternoon kids series.
funny as i was reading this i also thought… hey wasn’t this done 25 years ago as Sweet & Sour?! Hopefully they might do better than Tracy Mann miming Deborah Conway songs!
