Idol leak on Top 40 contestants

Ok, it's not the judge leak we've been waiting for, but three names have leaked out on Top 40 finalists in Australian Idol.

idolmOk, it’s not the judge leak we’ve been waiting for, but three names have leaked out on Top 40 finalists in Australian Idol.

The names were inadvertently published by press agency Tito Media. They are David Bevan, Aaron Bolton and Moire Meaney.

Tamworth singer Aaron Bolton auditioned with ”Somebody Like You”, by Keith Urban.

Tasmania’s indie-crooner, Moire Meaney (pictured), appeared in Sunday’s premiere episode singing a traditional Irish song.

The Top 40 singers won’t be officially made public until August 23rd when 100 become 40 and then 24.

TV Tonight has previously published highlights of the Top 100 performances:

– Seth from Newcastle instantly won him many female fans and is a clear favourite.
– Ryan from Tamworth, a country boy who sang Your Love is Lifting Me Higher,
– New Zealander Stan who sang Let’s Stay Together,
– 16yo Lucie “the baby of the group,”
– And a ‘nerd’ (apparently that term was used on the night) named Glenn who sang Sam Sparro.

Some TV Tonight readers have also singled out Nathan’s “We Are the Champions”, Hayley who did “Sober” by Pink and Zoe who managed to pull off Whitney’s “I will always love you”.

Semi finals begin August 24th on TEN. Good luck guys!

  1. Steven Guy – you make a very good point – why do Ten show ads with the finalists and then expect you to sit through the audition process when all the faces look familiar!

I notice Vile does not appear in any of the audition ads for Idol – I suspect Vile will be lining up for auditions himself (for any TV job) given his recent shannigans.

And for who will be the third Judge – I really couldn’t care less anymore. I’ve witnessed all the hype over the Paula Abdul – is she, isnt she, is she, isn’t she going to be a judge and I’ve decided that it nows seems all about the judges…and less about the contestants. Why the hell are they paid so much when most of the viewing public watch the contestants. Was Vile really worth one million dollars??? Paula Abdul – 5 million??…Once again exploitainment!!!

The contestants do all the hard work and only a fraction get anywhere near what the judges are getting in monetary terms…the dickos and simon cowells of this world sit there and moan about frock sizes and poor song choices and get sqillions!

  2. @Dylan – the tradie (I presume you mean the stupidly hot one…) I think got through (based on my recollection that we saw him being all tradie like and my theory)…

We also saw the teacher at his school… I can’t remember about that lady though….

  3. The three that Dylan has mentioned were my favourites too. They were all amazing and had brilliant stories to tell.

The Zoo Weekly want-to-be from Perth was the funniest…

  4. The leaks are half the problem, the other half is 10 running a promo (aweful thing that it is) with the new idol wannabe’s singing. No wonder Idol doesn’t get the ratings that it used too !

  5. It’s never really hard to figure out who gets through anyway…

In addition to the adverts that have shown the singers, the genre tends to follow the same sort of formula.

If, during the auditions, you see a contestant get interviewed in the audition room, they will usually have a story to tell, but won’t get through.

If the contestant gets interviewed at home – doing what they do – then it means they are one of the finalists.

I haven’t watched every reality show, but to the best of my recollection it worked for Dance, Idol and Masterchef!

  6. Do you have information on the tradie who had never really sang before whose friend told him to audition, the thirty year-old teacher from Adelaide and the meat cutter who sang the song about her mother’s suicide?
    They were my favourites.
