No Medical Emergency here

Updated: Medical Emergency shifts its return date from Aug 9 to Aug 16.

medemIt’s on, it’s off, it’s on, it’s off.

Seven has chosen not to return Medical Emergency to screen this Sunday, preferring to run Dancing with the Stars to 8:30pm.

The factual has had two start-up dates of August 2nd and August 9th now shelved.

Seven is obviously happy with the 1.59m Dancing took last night, winning its timeslot and the night. As Australian Idol returns that will be a bigger ask -variety audiences may split.

Updated: Now confirmed (we trust) for 8pm Sun Aug 16.

  1. Drop the Dancing Already Channel 7.You can’t beat the American So You Think You can Dance Over at 10 So why do they even bother? We lost Sunday Night and Border Security for an old persons dancing show shameful

  2. I agree that Medical Emergency doesn’t seem to fit right after Dancing.

I absolutely loved the group dance on Sunday and think they should have one every week! It looked like so much fun! Everyone was enjoying themselves. It had such a joyous atmosphere about it and it was good seeing the judges, hosts and even Chong Lim involved!

  3. While I think Dancing should be shorter, I couldn’t understand the decision to air a half hour factual in between in any case. I think Dancing will be mostly unaffected by the return of Idol as the two shows generally appeal to different demographics.

  4. good decision.
this means that if ME does eventually come will only go for 2 weeks (because the final 3 eps of DWTS are also usually 2 hours) i’d say 7 will just keep it as 2 hours the whole time. the material for the extra 1/2 hour shouldn’t be to hard to find.

last night’s DWTS was great. it’s a cast this year with really good chemistry and that wedding was one of the tv highlights of the year IMO. the 2 hours really does fly.

  5. i agree, seven would be crazy to cut DWTS at the moment, its going gangbusters, get them doing a group dance every week or get the top 5 (when we get there) to do 2 routines, chuck in a special guest and you’ve easily filled the 2 hours….putting a run of the mill factual between a variety show and a drama would be a bit silly

  6. I think DWTS will drop next week with Idol starting at the same time, not sure who will win, but it will be closer I think, we saw last year Idol was taking in a slightly higher audience than DWTS.

  7. I was watching the clock all night last night, trying to decide whether it would be possible for DWTS to finish at 8pm, and i think it wouldve been a big ask. The show would of felt very rushed, and without alot of the ‘fluff’ it wouldve made the show a bit boring .
I think it would be better to see how Idol will effect the ratings before changing things. Its prob best to leave DWTS till 8.30 for the whole season. Just have a ‘special guest’ every week. One we’ve heard of would be great, unlike the noname performing next week!
