ABC gangland doco has eye on trial
The ABC plans to screen a gangland doco by Andrew Rule and John Silvester in October, provided trial cases have concluded.
The long awaited ABC doco on the Melbourne gangland wars by Age journalists Andrew Rule and John Silvester -whose book was the basis for Underbelly- is coming soon.
Dead Famous is set for a screening in early October.
But, like its Channel Nine drama equivalent, the broadcast may be affected by current court cases in Victoria. ABC has scheduled it to air following the expected conclusion date of trials.
As well as interviews, some dramatisation and archival footage, it will look at how the underworld became a glitzy public soap-opera, played out on the front pages of newspapers, nightly television news bulletins and popular magazines for months on end.
