insmwThis week SBS screens a doco on Islam on the anniversary of 9/11, when many misconceptions about Islam began.

Inside the Wonders of the Muslim World looks into the beliefs and traditions that underpin a religion practised by about one billion people across the world.

It introduces viewers to the five basic pillars of Islam: belief in one God with Mohammad as his messenger, prayer, charity, fasting and pilgrimage.

As well as looking at the history of Islam, it will take viewers to the Kabba, in Mecca, the most holy site of the Islamic faith, and we will meet Muslims fasting during the month of Ramadan, which celebrates when the Koran was revealed to Mohammad.

It airs Friday, 11 September at 7:30pm on SBS ONE.

  1. People who have misconceptions about this religion are making violence taking name of islam.i read quran, bible and oher holy books.none says to be violate or agreesive. u should not listen what laden is saying .if you want to know u should read the quran, it won’t take long but u will know the real thing and hope u will enjoy it.

  2. You must know the difference between a terrorist and a freedom fighter. You won’t say that the Palestine is a terrorist, he is a freedom fighter. Those people who attacted on 9/11 do not represent Islam but represented their own interests. This document is for viewer like you, who have been brainwashed from reading the biased medias. Please do not assosiated Islam with terrorism. What we should do is to reach out to the younger muslims, direct them to the right way and that Islam do not condoned terrorism.

  3. Yes, that’s right, Sillygostly!

But as the old saying goes; ‘Good people do good things & bad people do bad things. But for good people to do bad things, it takes religion.’

  4. unfortunately many people don’t realise that the Muslim religion and terrorism aren’t one and the same. the majority of Muslims are against terrorism as much as anybody else and those few who do participate terror are just twisting the religion to convince them selves that they are doing the right thing.

  5. It’s fair to say there are many Muslims who have major misconceptions about their own religion.

Until the violence and oppression stops, opinions won’t change because of a documentary.
