Beautiful Life cancelled

The Beautiful Life, with Mischa Barton and Elle McPherson, is the first victim of the US Fall Season.

blIt hasn’t taken long for the axe to swing amongst America’s Fall Season debutantes.

The CW has canceled the Ashton Kutcher-produced drama The Beautiful Life after just two episodes.

The drama, starring Mischa Barton and Sara Paxton, was set in the glamorous modelling world of New York City. Elle McPherson was also in the cast.

The drama was plagued with production problems from the start, starting with Barton’s hospitalisation for emotional exhaustion. Last week’s episode was seen by only 1 million viewers.

Six episodes had been completed. Production was shut down during the seventh episode.

  1. Gossip Girl does not rate poorly for the CW. They don’t care about total people. The channel’s entire sched of programming is aimed at young women…and compared to its other series, (90210, Supernatural, Smallville, Melrose Place, One Tree Hill…not counting ANTM), GG performs better than all of them.

How is this? It still wins the its timeslot among women 18-34, and thats all Dawn Ostroff cares about. It also improved 25% in women 18-34 and 33% in adults 18-34 since its finale last season.

  2. It’s funny, because despite all the press the Gossip Girl show gets in the US print media mainly and sometimes here also, GG actually rates poorly for them also.

  3. Very disappointed that this is gone … The first two episodes I have seen were excellent, one of the best new shows this year … the problem from start to finish was Mischa Barton! She is perceived as a spoilt airhead in public, and her character is the same … the show itself would have gone on and been much better if they got rid of her and replaced her with someone who has some depth to their performance … Elle was great as the Modeling Agency boss, Claudia (ironic!) and so were the rest of the cast … the only problem was Mischa and I believe that is also the reason that no-one was watching it in the US … no one likes her!
