Curb, Wire & Weeds set to GO!

GO! confirms Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Wire, and Weeds for October.

curbyourenthusiasmGO! has confirmed some of its titles to be added as part of its official launch.

It will screen Season 5 of The Wire, Season 6 of Curb Your Enthusiasm and Season 3 of Weeds in October.

It follows the premiere of The Vampire Diaries on September 28th.

It will also add Comedy Central shows South Park and Reno 911 which were secured as part of a new content partnership between GO! and MTV Networks International.

Les Sampson, Head of Acquisitions and Programming for GO! said, “We are thrilled to secure this new content, not only because of its enormous appeal, but because it is a perfect fit for GO! and its key demographic target audience of 14-39 year olds.”

Season 6 of Curb is not the upcoming season with the Seinfeld reunion, which was promoted on A Current Affair last night including the suggestion by Tracy Grimshaw it would air in October. Perhaps it will follow…

The Wire (currently replaying S1 on ABC2) and Weeds are long overdue.

Vampire Diaries aside, no airdates have yet been released.

GO! has a full launch from October 4th.

  1. True Blood that Nine onsold to Foxtel and Entourage that Nine stupidly onsold to Foxtel a few years ago, should both be on GO. So should Nip/Tuck and The Shield show that’s now finished.

  2. @Matt: Obviously David knows for sure (or better than most), but I’d reckon that we’ll be hearing about GO on Foxtel once the new Optus satellite is properly up and running.

  3. SBS confirms it has not lot the right to South Park, meaning GO! likely has repeats.

GO! indicated late October for its arrival on Foxtel. Not confirmed by Foxtel yet.

Comedy Inc producers are behind Double Take.

  4. Goody for South Park, always a fan of the show. Reno 911 isn’t bad but I wish Go! could screen Comedy Inc, is this show still alive somewhere or has it stopped production, would you know David?

  5. @Mikey: Yeah, I guess, but there are so many good American shows that still deserve to be shown that I don’t think many people will be complaining. That said, I wouldn’t mind seeing some good Aussie shows, but judging from the shows that have been made lately, there aren’t too many contenders. Hmm, actually, if GO could score the replay rights to some of the notable Aussie cable shows (The Jesters, Love My Way, Satisfaction), that would be pretty cool.

Even if they’re just the replay rights, then GO getting South Park is a major coup. It never got the exposure it deserved on SBS (I’m not a fan of the show, but judging by the great word of mouth, and the anticipation of friends).

Haha, from what it seems, Les Sampson has one heck of an awesome job. Would be great to get just a glimpse of the additional shows/networks he’s courting.

  6. Weeds S3? Well I guess they have to start somewhere but since S5 has just finished in the US wouldn’t it be great if they could show it from the start, for those new to the show, or at least have a late night run of S1-2 along with S3.
