Minor spoiler: Mrs McCluskey is easily one of the best things about Desperate Housewives, a cranky senior neighbour played so engagingly by a character actress.

Kathryn Joosten has revealed that she has filmed a sex scene for the upcoming sixth season on Wisteria Lane.

The 69-year-old actress, says that she persuaded producers to let her wear a skimpy flesh-colored body stocking for the scene with her new beau, Roy, to be played by 81-year-old Orson Bean.

“They had all these old-lady nighties hanging there,” she said. “I said, ‘I’m not going to wear a nightie. We’re supposed to be in bed getting it on!'”

She added: “He’s asleep and I’m looking at him. I convinced the director to let me do one take holding a cigarette, but I’m sure they won’t use it.”
