Freehand appoints Head of Factual

Freehand Productions expands its Factual division with the appointment of producer Paul Rudd.

the_nest_folderFreehand Productions, which has produced such shows as Dancing with the Stars, Top Gear Australia, Escape from Scorpion Island, and Missing Persons Unit, has announced the appointment of Paul Rudd to the role of Head of Factual Programmes.

Rudd came to Freehand to help create The Nest and has been an Executive Producer at the Nine Network and Film Australia. His credits include RPA, Enough Rope, Getaway, Colour Of War and Captain Cook – Obsession and Discovery. He has 20 years of producing television for Australian, New Zealand, Canadian and UK media broadcasters including the ABC, SBS, Channel 4 (UK) and TVNZ.

“We are burnished by Paul’s presence and contribution. We see him as an important and valuable part of Freehand’s future,” Freehand CEO, John Gregory said.

“Freehand has an incredible track record and I’m excited by the challenge of helping them expand into more international co-productions and quality factual programmes,” said Rudd.

“Freehand intends to be an industry leader in mentoring talented young producers and directors which I couldn’t be more pleased to be part of.”

  1. Just reading through the tagged shows – The Nest is a good show that I enjoyed which says a bit about Paul Rudd. Too bad it did poorly in the ratings, but it was on SBS after all. Escape From Scorpion Island on the other hand is the nadir of TV so to speak.
