Returning: Gavin and Stacey

While the first season has just concluded on Seven, the second series of this warmhearted comedy comes to UKTV and BBC HD.

gavin-and-staceyThe second season of Gavin And Stacey will have its Australian premiere on UKTV this month. The first season, starring Mathew Horne (The Catherine Tate Show, Roman’s Empire, Teachers) and Joanna Page (Gideon’s Daughter, Love Actually, The Cazalets), has just concluded a run on Channel Seven.

In the second series of this very warmhearted comedy, we find out how Gavin and Stacey’s marriage is working out, what’s happening in the lives of their families, and, more importantly, if their best friends Nessa and Smithy are finally getting along.

Following their honeymoon, Gavin and Stacey are living with Gavin’s parents in Essex until they can get a place of their own. Gavin will not even consider moving to Barry, and Stacey feels bad for leaving her family. She also wants to be there to support her newly pregnant best friend Nessa.

Nessa has a bombshell of her own when she finally has to tell Smithy that he is the father of the child she is carrying. Will Smithy be able to cope with the news?

It airs Mondays at 8:30pm from September 14.

  1. I have to agree with PD the second series is better than the 1st. If that is anything to go by hopefully the 3rd series will be better than the 2nd. Fingers crossed. I was born near Barry Island so this series is close to home. All my family love this show and often find ourselves quoting lines from the series.

  2. Hopefully it will find a discerning audience on UKTV – beautifully written characters and performances. An absolute masterclass in how to write TV comedy.
