No you’re not looking at Cavemen again.
Hot on the heels that it will remake Skins, now MTV has ordered a series pilot of Michael J. Fox’s 1985 movie Teen Wolf.
Fox starred as a teenager who discovers he is a werewolf with basketballing prowess. The MTV version will be reworked by Criminal Minds creator Jeff Davis, set in high school and include a romantic plot line.
“It has a fresh take and is very different from the original,” said MTV’s Liz Gateley.
“It has more of an American Werewolf in Paris feel to it (not London?). It’s a dramatic thriller with two best friends in the centre who provide a great comedy element: They are two very relatable characters on the outer circles of popular cliques.”
The UK’s Being Human also featured a werewolf character, who roomed with a vampire and a ghost.
ABC and Fox are also developing series based on St. Elmo’s Fire and Heathers respectively.

Making having hairy palms respectable again 🙂
Werewolf in Paris was crap, great to build on such lofty forerunners.
Fresh take? there was already an animated Teen Wolf series produced back in 1986, which was actually released locally on DVD too.
Fail!
Hopefully this gets picked up so we’ll see a return of scripted show to MTV.
i always thought Oz was one of the best characters in buffy, and i loved the american werewolf movies when i was a kid so i’ll give this one a look if it ever airs over here on FTA.
