Seven will soon bring us Ridley Scott’s 2008 miniseries The Andromeda Strain.
This updated reimagining of Michael Crichton’s classic novel stars Benjamin Bratt, Eric McCormack, Daniel Dae Kim, Rick Schroeder and Christa Miller.
The miniseries, about a team of scientists who investigate a deadly disease of extraterrestrial origin, aired in the US as a four-hour, two-part miniseries, in May 2008 on the A&E Network but didn’t get positive reviews.
Maybe this will be used as a warm up to FlashForward?
The original Andromeda Strain film in 1971 was directed by the great Robert Wise and was nominated for two Oscars.
Keep you posted on an airdate…

Michael Crichton, one of the best scifi authors ever… I shall watch this remake..
I’m honestly surprised to see any minseries these days. They really are a dying breed, not helped by the fact that most recent ones (usually featuring the name “Robert Halmi Jr” in the production credits) are terrible.
So terrible… so very very terrible.
Yep, I also saw it on Foxtel and it was a shocker alright.
This has already aired on showtime/showcase, and it is awful.
Why bother showing this…Pay TV already has, and sorry it was a real shocker. A terrible peice of work!!
I think I’ve seen this?
Must’ve aired on Showtime last year I think…
If this is the same mini-series that aired on PayTV (one of the movie channels I think), then it’s a bit sad. Continuity was thrown out the window. Not a patch on the Robert Wise take.
Didn’t Seven plan to show this a few weeks back but changed to a movie at the last minute?
I saw this on SciFi a while ago, it’s okay but nothing on the original!
