In the sketch ‘Revs. LaMont Nixon Fatback’ and ‘Dr. Michael Cassidy’ talk about “the true meanin’ of Chrimmah”… all the things you can do with a “Hair Connick, Joonyah” Christmas CD when you’re all alone during the holidays.

Somehow I suspect it’s likely to be a bit of a talking point today after last night’s Hey Hey incident…..

Connick Jr. will also appear on Australian Idol this Sunday night.

  1. Harry is not in blackface in that skit and he is not impersonating a black preacher, he is impersonating a white southern preacher…his accent is 100% on for a southern white preacher. you can stop with the comparisons and accept the fact that this was a racially incorrect thing to do….white guys in black face jumping around like idiots, what is this the 1800’s????? come on people

  2. No Harry Connick Jr. isn’t a hypocrite! He was playing the role of a white preacher not a black preacher. Not all preachers are black. Look at us using a sterotype there, thinking all preachers in the USA are black. We are the hypocrites! That Hey Hey skit is 20 Years old…we should just move on. He had an opinion, he calmly stated it–and that’s that.

  3. If this Connick character isnt black neither is Halle Berry – we must remember that in the US mixed race is seen as black (eg Obama). Connick is clearly made up to look mixed race – the hair is clearly a mini afro which is bigger than Orlando’s, and the skin, though not black is clearly darker than his real skin. Throw in the way he’s dressed, which is typically seen as the way black preacher in the south dress, and it seems pretty evident that he is “in blackface”. And of course lets not forget the cultural context – he is a white southerner, with the Klan and lynchings and burning crosses in his state’s past – if the Aussies were in the wrong, Connick is doubly so.

  4. still means we’re racists, you can’t justify the blacke dup faces on the basis the complainers did the same 13 years ago. sounds like sour grapes from us looking for any excuse rather than acknowledge it’s dated and tasteless aka racist
