2009 ARIAs: Nominations

Former Idol singer Jessica Mauboy ties for the most nominees, but there are a few other TV names also in the running.

jesThe 2009 ARIA Awards announced nominations yesterday, with former Australian Idol singer Jessica Mauboy tieing with Empire Of The Sun for the most nominations.

Mauboy has nods in the fields of Best Female, Breakthrough Artist Single, Breakthrough Artist Album, Best Pop Release and Highest Selling Australian album, along with two entries in the Highest Selling Australian Single field with ‘Burn’ and ‘Running Back’.

2008 Idol Wes Carr is also nominated, while RocKwiz, Dave Hughes, Hamish & Andy, Tripod, Bindi Irwin, Georgie Parker, The Wiggles, The Fairies, The Saddle Club, East of Everything and a MAX Sessions CD featuring Kasey Chambers & Shane Nicholson are also up for awards.

Nine will telecast the event this year, to be staged at Sydney’s Acer Arena on Thursday November 26th with Robbie Williams set to appear.

  2. What are Hamish and Andy, and Dave Hughes nominated for?

    And is there any word on who is hosting? I liked Hamish and Andy hosting last year, but thats me being bias :p I think they’re the coolest entertainers in Australia, and should host everything :p

  3. Good to see Ladyhawke nominated. I hope they don’t find out that she is actually from New Zealand and won six Tuis at the New Zealand Music Awards the other day.
