89% heart ABC (but not The Chaser)

89% of Australians value the ABC, according to its Annual Report. But The Chaser had nearly 5000 complaints.

chaserwarFigures gathered by Newspoll found 89% of people value the ABC and its services, an increase of 1% from the last survey, says the Sydney Morning Herald.

In its Annual Report the ABC indicated those who believe quality programming was provided by ABC television was steady at 82%, while ABC Radio was up 4% to 69%. Approval for online content was down 2% to 89%.

Complaints fell more than 20 per cent to 32,130 last financial year, but The Chaser’s War on Everything topped the list with 4995 complaints. In total, the broadcaster received 32,130 complaints, including for radio, with 3564 citing bias or lack of balance and 1738 for factual inaccuracy.
