Collectors celebrates 200 episodes

Andy and the team looking back at some of their favourite segments and the legendary Big Ted and Jemima from ABC Playschool meet up on the big red couch.

For true television fans, ABC TV veteran cameraman Dennis Brennan shows some of the wonderful pieces of broadcasting equipment he has been preserving in a dusty old shed at the Gore Hill site. He has spent years searching out and saving old broadcast equipment, cameras, radios, microphones, record players, the lot.

Here he talks about the history behind his collection and tells some fascinating tales about where he has sourced items over the years. Some of the cameras were used by cameramen who went on to become Academy Award winners.

Brennan even has a clapper board he made for the Ben Hall drama series when he was a clapper loader in 1975. He auctioned it off for charity at the end of production and it came back to him a few years ago from the deceased estate of the original auction winner.

200th epAlso appearing on the show is Lynne Boothey from Adelaide who has been collecting Kinder Surprises for 15 years – she now has over 6000. Mixologist and liquor industry consultant Sven Almenning from Sydney shares his passion for the art of the cocktail. His collection of cocktail shakers, glasses and spoons spans the period 1880 to 1950. His grandfather was President of the Norwegian Temperance Society.

Finally, Gordon and Adrian compete on the auction floor, and all the panel show off their favourite moments of the past 200 episodes.

It airs at 8pm tonight.
