Four Corners journo awarded for art

Four Corners reporter Quentin McDermott has been recognised for his reports exposing manufactured indigenous art and the fake art market.

qmFour Corners reporter Quentin McDermott has won the second annual Trawalla Foundation 2009 Arts Journalism Scholarship, presented in conjunction with the Melbourne Press Club,

The Foundation, which invests in social enterprises and opportunities that focus on arts, ideas, innovation and scholarship, will provide McDermott with $7500 to visit an international arts event.

McDermott was recognised for his reports exposing the practice of manufactured indigenous art, and a another which investigated the fake art market.

McDermott said he hoped to travel to London to take in two exhibitions at the Tate Modern and hopefully “evolve from being a parasite to a higher form of creation.”
