Some of the acquisitions have been trickling out. While these are by no means the biggies, it’s a bit of a hint of what went down in buying and selling:

ABC has picked up Wallace & Gromit Present A World of Invention, a 6×29’ invention-themed show, presented by the much-loved family favourites Wallace and Gromit, with broadcast scheduled for late 2010. It was commissioned by the BBC in the UK. Aardman’s head of sales Alix Wiseman said: “We are confident that Wallace & Gromit Present A World of Invention has great international potential and will appeal to family audiences worldwide.”

ABC also has acquired New Zealand’s 13 part drama Kaitangata Twitch, which tells the story of the modern world confronted by Maori legend and is an adaptation of the works of author Margaret Mahy. The series has been adapted for television by New Zealand writers Gavin Strawhan, Michael Bennett and Briar Grace-Smith and is shot in high-definition on location outside Christchurch, New Zealand.

Germany’s ZDF Enterprises (ZDFE) has licensed a package of children’s animation to the ABC, with titles including Fun With Claude, Shaolin Wuzang and Igam Ogam. Laura’s Star (35×10′) will be aired on ABC2.

UK distributor Digital Rights Group’s drama arm, Portman Film and Television, will distribute Underbelly: The Golden Mile (13×60′).

US cable network Ovation TV has agreed a coproduction deal for the second season of fashion series Designer People, from Australian independent producers DemonAngel. Designer People looks at a range of designers from around the world, covering architecture, fashion, communication, interiors and industrial design.

Climate change-themed interstitials series 100 Places To Remember Before They Disappear about disappearing natural places is picked up by SBS. The interstitials are intended to highlight climate issues in the lead up to the COP15 United Nations (UN) climate conference in Copenhagen this December.
