Nat Geo gets Wild in November

Orca Killing School, Wild Russia and Frogs: The Thin Green Line are some of the titles coming to Nat Geo Wild.

orca3Another of the new channels to launch on November 15th is Nat Geo Wild, with docos on Earth’s many environments and the creatures that inhabit them.

It will add to the other Nat Geo channels already on offer – National Geographic Channel, National Geographic Channel HD and Nat Geo Adventure.

Promising ‘intimate encounters with wildlife, forbidding ocean depths, remote mountain peaks, sweeping plains and deep jungles’ the channel will feature experts and scientists including resident herpetologist Dr Brady Barr, filmmakers Dereck and Beverly Joubert and aquatic ecologist Zeb Hogan.

Ric Burns Managing Director of Nat Geo Aus / NZ says, “In a country renowned for its mix of cute and deadly wildlife, Nat Geo Wild is a magnificent addition to the televisual landscape. Australian families now have the opportunity to experience the best wildlife documentaries from around the globe and their own backyard.”

The channel’s debut line-up will include the six part series Wild Russia, taking in one of the world’s great wildernesses; Orca Killing School, featuring the deadliest pod of killer whales on the planet; and Frogs: The Thin Green Line, exploring the environmental crisis facing Australia’s amphibians.

Nat Geo wild is part of the new Kids & Music or Knowledge & Adventure packages.

  1. Tess and Tyano, won’t content from the new channel be also shown on the HD Nat Geo channel? I thought content from the regular NatGeo SD and the NatGeoAdventure channel were show on the HD NatGeo channel? But I don’t have HD so I don’t know for sure.

  2. @Ryano, wish it was in HD as well, i bet alot of the programs are filmed in HD anyway, its also good to see its not in the sport package like Nat geo adv, but i dont really like it in the Kids & Music package

  3. It would be nice if this channel was in HD.
    Natural History docos look so stunning on a HD set, yet Foxtel only provides 2 documentary channels in HD format.
    Poor form from Foxtel I say.
