  1. Basically it will be two kids channels during the 9am-6pm times slots. I would have preffed all kids shows on ABC3, and leave ABC2 there to add even more quality shows to their current stock.
Not really impressed with the two kids channels, pretty dissapointing really. Still no Degrassi TNG, which ABC is now 6 seasons behind. Spellbinder on ABC3 is not marked as Repeat, however they are over 10 years old. Just because a show has not aired on that network does not change it from being a repeat.
Really, there is no need for ABC3 based on what ABC2 will still have to offer, as well as the kids programming on ABC1.

  2. Bazza: That is the point, the ABC is the only channel to provide children’s programming for that full time period.

RollerCoaster used to provide different series every weekday, with more new series and variety in the past. And the ABC2 used to provide more children’s programming between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM weekdays, with a better mix of new and old content, in the past too.

It is only in the last few years, there has been a real lack of new content and variety, with regular series (ie Arthur or Fairly OddParents) not getting new seasons, or completely disappearing (Avatar – The Last Airbender).

“The ABC still fails to provide new decent content in the 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM timeslots on weekdays”

Sorry, you say that as if any channel does?

Calm down, I’m sure they’ll sort things out over time. If the ABC is good at anything, it’s making the best of what they have.

  4. Extremely disappointing, what happened to all the additional funding?

There isn’t a large amount of new content, especially with many new series been quite short (10-12 minutes). Several TV series are been repeated later in the day, and more endless repeats of TV series already shown on the ABC1/2. Very little new content shown on weekends, which seem more like catch up days, with repeats of TV series, shown on weekdays.

Several of the new Australia series (Prank Patrol, Rush TV, Studio 3), would be cheap to produce, and are the type commonly used by commercial TV networks.

The ABC still fails to provide new decent content in the 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM timeslots on weekdays, with would be the most popular. And the evening content looks even worse, nothing worth watching at all.

It looks like the ABC3 will finally show new episodes of 6teen, but starting in the middle of the series, and using a crazy timeslot of 6:05 AM weekdays. The story of the characters continues through the series, and the series is suited to a later timeslot. 6teen was previously shown at 6:00 PM every week on the ABC2 (in 2007), and I don’t understand why a similar timeslot wasn’t chosen for the ABC3.
