3Nine years after they completed their cult UK comedy series Red Dwarf, the cast reunited for a three episode series.

The 3 part series begins at 8pm this Monday on ABC2.

The intergalactic comedy series that took viewers on a joyride three million years into the future finally heads back to Earth.

In this most anticipated return, fresh mayhem unfolds as Lister’s (Craig Charles) busy day of annoying Rimmer (Chris Barrie) is interrupted by the discovery of a dimension-hopping monster in the ship’s mile-deep water tank.

Rimmer’s gross incompetence triggers the arrival of his replacement, Katerina (Sophie Winkleman), who is determined to guide Red Dwarf back to its home planet.

But Earth 2009 is not everything the boys expected and Rimmer has no intention of being replaced.

Discovering they are destined to die, Lister, Rimmer, Cat (Danny John Jules) and Kryten (Robert Llewellyn) – in the best Blade Runner tradition – track down those responsible for their creation…and plead for their lives.

First shown in 1988, Red Dwarf attracted first-run audiences in excess of eight million in the UK. It has been broadcast in more than 30 countries across the globe and remains as popular as ever.

You Tube features almost 3,000 clips, Facebook has more than 500 appreciation groups and Bebo has over 50,000 entries. The official Red Dwarf website gets over two million page requests every month.

It premieres 8pm Monday November 29th on ABC2 and continues fot two more weeks.

  1. Even if this is only average .. it’ll still be better TV than we normally get 🙂

  2. @vinny

This comes from Robert Llewellyn’s Twitter on Oct 10th:
“Series 10 of Red Dwarf announcement just been made at DJ (Dimension Jump – a Red Dwarf Convention) 09. To clarify the scripts have been commissioned, wont be filming til 2010”

  3. @ Craig .. I think the numbers were good when this aired in the UK and to quote wiki: Robert Llewellyn recently confirmed the new series “Series 10 of Red Dwarf announcement just been made at DJ 09. To clarify the scripts have been commissioned, wont be filming til 2010”.

  4. It’s an interesting series in that it has non-too-subtle parodies
of Bladerunner & others, & gradually turns into a sort of promo for the
Dave TV Channel in the UK. The storyline effectively disappears up its
    own backside 🙂

Whilst it’s good to see the cast together again, fans who haven’t
seen it yet shouldn’t get their hopes up too much, unfortunately.
    Nice but not completely satisfying.
