Ferguson tipped for Sunday Night

Former Channel Nine news presenter Mark Ferguson may be making appearances on Sunday Night as well as reading Seven's news bulletins.

markfergusonFormer Channel Nine News presenter Mark Ferguson may be making appearances on Sunday Night.

Now part of Seven’s Sydney news team, Ferguson becomes the weekend newsreader for Seven.

Speaking for the first time since his departure from Nine, Ferguson told the Daily Telegraph they year hadn’t exactly panned out the way he expected.

You can say that again. It didn’t pan out the way viewers expected either. There have been few constants in Sydney news this year. Peter Overton took over from Ferguson in an atrociously-handled transition while Ian Ross is set to leave Seven next week.

Ferguson’s words will be ringing at Nine today: “It was time for change and a lot of little factors went into it but over all I had this fabulous opportunity to join Channel 7, it’s not every day you get offered a position with the No. 1, leading network and leading Australian news room. I was going to grab it with both hands,” he said.

Ouch.

  1. i dont understand what some people hear are complaining about, to me he seems to be a perfectly fine news reader. i’m sure he is glad to be away from the arrogant andrew daddo.

  2. This seems a little too familiar. Mark Ferguson, the man Stuart Littlemore once likened to a David Jones suit model on Media Watch, appears to be your fair weather newsreading friend.

When Ferguson left Seven and joined Nine in 1992, Ferguson appeared in a National Nine News /Watch the World Us ad alongside Brian Henderson stating that it was always his ambition to work in the leading television newsroom in the country. Now he’s back at Seven sticking the knife into Nine with the same old line. Wonder if Meakin put him up to it… again.

    Oh snap!

  4. He has the warmth and personality of a broomstick which is sitting in the rain. He has proved he can read an auto cue but Sunday Night requires walking at the same time. Lets not go crazy here.

  5. I would rather see Mark do the 6pm nightly News, I dunno his personality I guess?
And maybe I would switch from Sky National News with Jim Whaley to Seven News with Mark Fergusson what say you 7???

Haha. Boo yeah. Love him already.

  7. Something about the personality cult of the TV news reader freaks me out.
If I want the news I have a magnificent resource right in front of me. The Internet.
