To celebrate the 20th anniversary of The Simpsons, FOX has put together a very neat little TV scavenger hunt that will see its other shows embedding references and tributes to the show.
Shows including House, Fringe are dropping references all week as part of a viewer competition.
Some shows cite names of Simpsons characters. Others incorporate one of the show’s licensed products into a plot line ,and others have cameos.
When the producers on Fringe were asked if they wanted to participate, they agreed immediately, even though the show is produced by Warner Brothers.
“We’re all huge fans — I mean, come on, the show is brilliant and, at this point, a part of the culture,” Jeff Pinkner, an executive producer, said.
Producers of FOX shows were asked to insert the references months ago, but Glee. which was shot some time ago, will miss out on a specialised reference.
FOX says it worked with them to find something in the episode which is also true for The Simpsons.
Not much hope of these eps coinciding in Australia, but at least you’ll know what’s up when they come around.

@ Michael lol
Long, long time Simpsons fan. But the show is at least 10 years overdue for the axe.
Awesome. 😀
It won’t pursuade me to watch the likes of House or Fringe though as I’m sure that these particular scenes will wind up on the 21st season DVD release. 😛
Dr House referred to Dr Cuddy’s “chest” as Patty and Selma, because Like Bart’s aunts they’re always smoke’n!
This is a pretty neat idea, shall look forward to Fringe this week.
This will be so awesome!
Ah, I just watched House last night and couldn’t even think of what the reference was, but after a Google search I remember it. Very clever! 🙂
I wonder if Dollhouse put a reference into their episode that was supposed to air this week, but has now been held off to air as double-episodes in December.
