When Oprah meets Michael J.
Oprah Winfrey will talk to Michael J. Fox about stem cell research, 11 years after revealing he was living with Parkinson's disease.

This Thursday TEN screens The Oprah Winfrey Show in which Oprah talls to Michael J. Fox.
It’s been 11 years since he revealed to the world that he had been living with Parkinson’s disease. Here he speaks about how the disease has affected his wife and children and issues concerning stem cell research.
“We had eight years where there was no forward progress and some things people don’t even understand,” he says.
“For example, if you say no federal funding for stem cell research, that means if there’s a university or hospital that receives any funding for anything, they can’t do even privately funded stem cell research,” he says. “The kind of iterations of impact were really severe.”
“How much medication did you have to take in preparation for today?” Oprah asks.
“A boatload,” Michael says.
It airs 1pm Thursday on TEN.

Watch for him in the role of Denis Leary’s ex wifes new boyfriend in Rescue Me season 5 currently playing on W on Foxtel. Very funny banter between him and Leary.
Michael is a champion and what a damm shame his career had to end early to such an illness. I do hope one day they find a cure.
what a fantastic and inspirational guy. As a kid i admired him as marty mcFly, later in spin city – and he continues to amaze me. If only the world could have a fraction of his determination an optimism, it could be such a better place…..
One of my favourite Scrubs episodes was when Michael played a doctor/surgeon with obsessive compulsive order (the first one he is in, My Catalyst – he actually did a two episode stint). There is a really amazing scene at the end where he just gives this anguished scream of frustration and says “everybody has their own burdens J.D, and I’m not going to be someone who dumps mine on someone else”. Every time I see it I tear up! It just rings with such truth. He’s just an incredible actor.
I was priviliged to meet him, his family and work with his son some years ago. A truly wonderful person. (And he shook my hand for ages 😉 )

I have to concur with Taz and Karen – Michael is a true legend, on and off the screen.
Michael is a class act.
As someone who will be directly affected by advances in stem cell research (I have an incurable auto-immune disease), I applaud Michael’s continued advocation of this cause.
