2009: The Top 100

About the only thing our networks can agree on this year is the 3.72m viewers who tuned in for the moment when Julie was announced the winner of MasterChef Australia.

JULIE-WINsLast week there was widespread disagreement over the reporting of 2009 ratings results.

The networks also included their own breakdown of the top rated shows for the year. No doubt they will cause similar dissent.

Both Nine and Seven break out the first episode of Underbelly as a stand alone event, but TEN does not.

Seven delivers the info in two lists, one as regular programming, and another as event television, strategically including Specials. It also lists these as Weeks 1-48, which includes the Australian Open during the non-ratings period.

About the only thing everyone can agree on is the 3.72m viewers who tuned in for the moment when Julie was announced the winner of MasterChef Australia.

  1. Ouch @ Idol not appearing in the top 100. Masterchef was fantastic, deserved its ratings. Classy show. Great to see NCIS being the highest rating US show in Oz.

  2. Rob- not me. The system works. It doesn’t give a true figure as to how many watched the show, but it does rank the shows. The figures show tha more people watched the finale of masterchef than
anything else this year, and that’s what matters!

  3. Yes, the FTA ratings are rubbish. Pay TV are very accurate in thier ratings and Pay TV shows are much much better than any of the above mentioned shows except Masterchef Australia.

  4. Those Masterchef ratings have to be an error. I have no confidence in the FTA ratngs numbers that get published. The margin or error is just obsurd. Pay TV and Internet hits are extremely accurate as they can come up with an exact number rather than some complicated calculations and guesses. Who agrees?
