For the third night in a row, ABC News has won the 7:00 slot.
On Tuesday, following the Liberal Party leadership spill, it reached 1.17m. It again won last night with 1.05m well ahead of Australia’s Funniest Home Videos on 790,000, How I Met Your Mother on 753,000 and The 7PM Project on 714,000 -at least TEN is now holding its own against commercial rivals.
Summer figures continue to remain modest, with Seven News the night’s top show on 1.25m.
But it was Nine’s share that delivered with a very strong 31.0% thanks to Cold Case, A Current Affair and What’s Good For You This Summer.
It’s a close race in News in Sydney with Chris Bath just ahead of Peter Overton, 297,000 to 277,000. Sunrise and Today were similarly neck and neck 327,000 to 313,000, while just 1,000 beat game show repeats at 5:30pm.
ABC would have to be concerned about the soft return for Hungry Beast 397,000 and John Safran’s Race Relations 381,000 -next week Safran is nailed to a cross.

How can a traditional news bulletin beat the 7pm Project.
I haven’t even thought about the fact that I actively switch off commercial news but the TV ends up on the ABC for 7pm news.
I havent watched any TV since Sunday but well done to the ABC. They are doing well and very surprising to see the 7PM thing doing decent numbers.
Their ratings are high becuase most of their news is doom and gloom- like SBS.
“next week Safran is nailed to a cross” woohoo!!
