Attenborough in Oz

Sir David Attenborough was in the Flinders Ranges last week hunting out early signs of dinosaur life.

davidaSir David Attenborough was in the Flinders Ranges last week making a documentary with SA Museum palaeontologist Dr Jim Gehling.

Dr Gehling told news.com.au, “Every time you turn a slab it’s the first time that those organisms have been exposed to the sun in 550 to 560 million years… and we did that under the gaze of camera with David Attenborough on site.

“It was fantastic.”

While the film crew is headed to the Great Barrier Reef next, Sir David is heading home to England.

Despite Life in Cold Blood being his last full series, he has said that he did not intend to retire completely and would probably continue to make occasional one-off programmes.

Between 1977 and 2005, Attenborough has narrated over 250 editions of the half-hour BBC One nature series Wildlife on One, mainly to narrate other people’s films. But he did occasionally appear in front of the camera.
