J.J. Abrams next television project, Undercovers, centres around a husband and wife who are spies.
Not quite Mr. and Mrs. Smith, the lighthearted series is said to be co-written by Abrams and Josh Reims, who worked together on Felicity and What About Brian, with the pilot to be directed by Abrams.
The husband and wife are named Samantha and Steven (Bewitched homage anyone?), who run a catering company, having left their roles as spies. But they have now been called back into service. Unlike Mr. and Mrs. Smith, they will be a happy, loving, bantering couple who are “as likely to make a marinara sauce together as they are to bug an embassy.”
The pilot will see them hunt down a possible former flame of Samantha’s whom the CIA thinks has gone turned. A “screw-up sister” of Samantha’s runs the catering firm in their absence.
Repeat after me…. “it ain’t no Lost.”

Sounds like a mature Alias with a touch of humour.
Sounds more like it might be along the lines of Scarecrow and Mrs. King, sort of. I’ll tune in out of curiosity, but have to admit, I didn’t care for Lost. Alias was more my liking, or should I say, addiction.
Probably more like Alias that like What About Brian. Chill out people!
I watched What About Brian in full and it was complete crap.
Abrams has made a habit of turning a seemingly dull premise into a great show. For example, Lost. A bunch of peple are stranded on an island after a plane crash and discover that mysterious things are happening. Sounds lame, doesn’t it? Or how about an FBI agent, a mentally ill scientist and his tearaway son investigate cases centred around unproven science? Sounds gripping, right? Except it’s called Fringe, and it is gripping.
Oh, and @Jed, I thought What About Brian was great.
The premise feels similar to the Incredibles
You’re saying it sounds much better than Lost, right? I knew it! Agreed.
No it ain’t!
After the BS, plot hole filled fest which was Star Wrek I’m never watching anything he’s at the helm for and I’ve never really understood why he’s look at as a marvel, for hack writing he’s on par with Russell Davies and Brannon Braga.
Sounds like Spy Kids meets Mr. & Mrs Smith… not feeling it, J.J. sorry 😛
Not quite Mr. and Mrs. Smith…
thank god for that.
And let’s hope it ain’t no Felicity or What About Brian coz those shows were lame.
