Pink Panther marathon

7TWO has slated 3 Pink Panther movies back to back.

ppThis Sunday 7TWO has slated some classic Pink Panther movies back to back.

12:05PM The Pink Panther Strikes Again (1976)
2:10PM Trail of the Pink Panther (1982)
4:10PM Curse of the Pink Panther (1983)

Peter Sellers appears in the first two films, but died three years before the Curse of the Pink Panther which has Ted Wass, playing “the world’s second best detective,” Sergeant Clifton Sleigh. Not a strong selling point. Notable also for the last screen performance by David Niven.

They are preceded by Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968) at 9:30am.

  1. Trail of the Pink Panther is also rubbish – and was actually made during the same shoot as “Curse”, so it’s technically also David Niven’s last role 🙂 “Trail” was new footage intercut with outtakes from the other Pink Panther films – kind of necessary since Sellers had already died when it was made 🙂

Of the three, only the first one is worth watching. And it’s a classic 🙂

  2. Don’t waste your time on the 80’s ones they are mediocre. The 70’s one though with the great Peter Sellars is a classic..IIRC it’s the one where his boss goes mad and tries to kill him 🙂

Seven should have shown the proper PP movies like “A Shot In The Dark” (considered the best one) or the 1967 one or even the first one which while not as good as the later ones is miles better then the 80’s duds.

  3. Curse of the Pink Panther actually wasn’t that bad.

At least it was far funnier than the Steve Martin remakes – poor Steve hasn’t done so well over the last few years in films sadly….
