Indigenous personalities including Jessica Mauboy and Deborah Mailman will appear alongside puppets in NITV's new kids' series.

Indigenous personalities including Jessica Mauboy, Deborah Mailman, Sean Choolburra, Jimmy Little, Casey Donovan, Deborah Cheetham, Chris Sarra and David Page will appear in Yarramundi Kids, a new 13 part kids series from Indigenous broadcaster NITV.

It will seek to educate children about the importance of family and friends, eating healthy food and caring for the environment by incorporating avatars, puppets, location stories, animation and Indigenous language segments. The show will feature ‘Yarramundi Kids Puppets’ Nikita, Danny, Max, Lilli Pilli and Baby Ben.

Based on a stage show, the series is the brainchild of Master Puppeteer Chris Burke, who has worked with children and families for over 30 years as Teacher, Counsellor, Community Educator, Puppeteer, Script Writer and Director.

An exciting collaboration between NITV and Indigenous media company Gracie Productions, Yarramundi Kids is a feel-good 13 part series for all Australian children and their families.

It premieres weekdays at 7.00am and 11.00am EST from 15 February on NITV.

NITV is broadcast nationally to metropolitan and regional areas, as well as via Foxtel, Austar and Optus.

  1. I have a seven year old daughter, he is a true fan. She sings the theme songs out aloud for most of the day. Every morning there is a flurry of excitment as she hurrys to the t.v and watches with great intent, she happily sings along to the songs and sometimes makes up her own dance routines to them. Grace especially loves listening to the dreamtime stories, Lilli Pilli and Max because they have the same hair colour as her. Grace tells me she loves Nakita because she is so grown up and knows everything.I like that she likes it because it is not like those rubbishy American programs for children, it is an Australian program which relates to our history and something that Australian televsion should be proud of. She cannot stop talking about the program to her neighbours, who the guest might be on the next show.
    Number 1 Fan.
