Rob Lowe to exit Brothers and Sisters

Dishy Rob Lowe will exit US drama Brothers & Sisters, it has been announced.

The movie star-turned-TV star has been playing Senator Robert McCallister, eventual husband of Kitty Walker (Callista Flockhart), since appearing in a recurring role in 2006.

In that time he’s been politically opposed by some of the Walker clan, but embraced by the family around many of their perpetual dinner parties and functions. Last season he also had a medical emergency and a threat to his marriage.

But the exit for the former West Wing star may lead to greater role within the network.

“We would like to keep Rob at ABC,” the network’s entertainment president Steve McPherson said. “We feel he should be anchoring his own franchise. We are in talks now.”

The new season of Brothers & Sisters returns to Seven on February 1st.

  1. Ugh again? He is a great actor and was great in WW and is in Brothers and Siters, but hes always jumping ship when he feels hes not getting enough attention is he that full of himself?

  2. Hmm, does this mean Kitty and Robert eventually get divorced? I, unlike Leo, have waited patiently for Channel 7 to screen the next season. Guess I’ll have to see what happens.

  3. No Rob you can’t leave. I will miss your gorgeous smile and your character. You and Calista are amazing on screen. They are a beautiful couple. I guess they will have to kill him off because they have already down the relationship breakdown storyline. I guess Kevin gets a new job then.

    I will miss you Rob. But can’t wait until next monday to watch series 4. I guess we still have him on our screens for awhile. But it won’t be the same.

  4. I love Brothers & Sisters, I couldn’t wait for channel 7 so have watched all 13 episodes screened in America so far – season 4 is sensational.
    The show has a great mix of drama with a dash of comedy – the scripts are always top notch.
    I will miss Rob Lowe – he’s a fantastic character & he’s hot!
    Talking of which, watch out for the french guy – Hot!!
