David Wenham has been cast as fallen lawyer Andrew Fraser in TV1’s miniseries Killing Time.
The 10 part drama follows the life of the high-flying lawyer who came crashing to earth with cocaine addiction, being disbarred and imprisoned.
The series, to be produced by FremantleMedia Australia, is the most ambitious project ever undertaken by TV1.
“Very rarely in an actor’s life do you come across a script that reads so well that you just have to do it,” Wenham said.
“This has only happened a couple of times before. It’s there on the page and it’s up to us to make it the extraordinary piece of TV it deserves to be. There is an energy and momentum behind this story that I haven’t come across in Australian TV before.”
Peter Hudson, CEO, TV1 said, “David is an outstanding actor, and the one we believed could become Andrew Fraser in this incredible true story. He is highly credentialed and internationally awarded and with him leading the cast will elevate Killing Time to an important place in Australian television history.”
Heading up the writing team is renowned screenwriter Ian David (Blue Murder, 3 Acts of Murder) who is also Story Producer. David will write 4 of the episodes, setting the tone for the story while Mac Gudgeon and Katherine Thompson will helm the other 6.
It begins shooting in April.

I wouldn’t draw too much from the fact that Seven hasn’t picked it up. It’s more likely to do with their preferred demographic for attracting advertisers, than anything so prosaic as the show’s intrinsic merit.
Thanks David 🙂
Hopefully you will let us know or do a review later this year when it’s ready to go to air.
Fantastic ! I love David Wenham and the story should be great. for TV1.
However, I don’t understand why a FTA Channel hasn’t taken this one ?
Seven looked at it but didn’t pursue it.
