Dermot Mulroney's first starring television role will be Jim Rockford in the NBC remake of the 1974 series.

Film star Dermot Mulroney will become television’s new Jim Rockford in the revamped Rockford Files.
The NBC series will update the renowned 1974 series starring James Garner as a private detective.
The new Jim Rockford is described as “slightly crumpled, wry humored, cynical, world weary, compassionate when it’s called for and easily irritated by morons.”
His troubled past includes includes doing some time as a convict and as a cop.
House creator David Shore has adapted the new version, with Steve Carell to serve as an Executive Producer.
It is Mulroney’s first starring television role.
