Olympics catch-up: Foxtel

Foxtel has launched its dedicated microsite offering online coverage to Olympic subscribers.

Both Free to Air and Pay TV are launching their online catch-up sites for coverage of the Winter Olympics.

Foxtel’s site at www.foxtel.com.au/vancouver2010 offers online streaming to Olympic subscribers and complements its television broadcast and mobile television services on Telstra 3G and Next G mobile handsets.

Foxtel’s Director of Sports and Olympic Games Peter Campbell said: “In any Olympic Games there are many emotional moments involving Australian athletes that Aussie viewers just don’t want to miss. Opportunities created from our continued investment in technology, such as one-touch advance recording, and onscreen information libraries made possible by the iQ set-top-unit, interactive television and the Foxtel website, means that Foxtel is able to offer live and complete coverage of the achievements from our Australian athletes and all Gold Medal events – which is a broadcasting first in Australia.”

Meanwhile TV viewers will also get a four-channel multiview via the red button which will bring up:

– An onscreen What’s On Guide, both now and coming up
– Top Picks from the sports and athletes to watch each day
– An up-to-date Medal Table including Australia’s position
– Results for every event on that day including qualification and medal rounds
– Profiles of the leading Australian and international athletes competing each day
– Background on how each sport and event works
– Information on all our Olympic Winter Games hosts and expert commentators

  1. David I have been reading on some blogs and forums that long term Foxtel subscribers are getting the olympics even though they have not paid for it. Can you confirm if this is true or just a rumour.?

  2. And, it looks like from a random comment on that iCarly article, Nick’s using a “event” to switch. There are many events between now and All Fools Day… Valentines Day, coat tails of the Winter Olympics, the first day of fall, I mean autumn.

  3. That is what a Olympic commentator picture is supposed to look like, not all in stuffy winter gear.

I wonder if Foxtel’s channels are going to use the end of the games, for new looks, or in the case of one, adopting the newer logo from the States.

    (You guess the channel.)
