Red Symons confirmed for Hey Hey return

No surprises here. Daryl Somers confirms the return of Red Symons to Hey Hey 2010.

Red Symons is confirmed to return to Hey Hey its Saturday.

Daryl Somers told the dedicated Facebook page of the news late last night:

Hi Guys

I wanted you all to be the first to know about some exciting news you might read in the papers tomorrow.

There’s certainly been a lot of speculation as to who’s going to be part of the line-up for Hey Hey this year.

It gives me great pleasure to let you know that Red is locked in and will be part of the fun in 2010.

We’re all busy working on the new series and will share more information with you in the coming weeks.

Cheers, Daryl.

Symons’ return is no surprise given he was not returning to the judging chair on Australia’s Got Talent. He also recently appeared on Australian Story.

But Somers Carroll won’t be quite so lucky with Molly Meldrum, firmly signed by Seven and Foxtel.

Symons’ return to Nine will mirror Somer’s departure from Seven with Dancing with the Stars and a return to his traditional television home.

  1. If it is not Eddie Everywhere It’s Charlie or Bert Everywhere Over at Nine these days that one is in reference to Sheen and Newton.Nine is running out of ideas.I swear to God If It weren’t for Getaway or Looney Tunes Cartoons when those were around I would have switched nine off the minute after temptation was sent to the scrapheap.

  2. @ Christopher Deane I suppose you’d like the pathetic Rove and his equally obnoxious cohorts to come back on our screens, a show whose supposed “success” only came about because he was the only one of that genre to be on tele for all those years and they kept him there despite all the low ratings and constantly struggled to get a measly million viewers. The same goes for the smugness of Good News Week, another low rating show that is continually shoved down our throats. Hey Hey is loved by millions and so many people have been waiting for its return for years. Bring on Hey Hey!!!

  3. Smart move by Red for jumping out of Australia’s Got Talent at the right time – just as it’s going to crash this year

I really think this decision is based on fun and just having a good time on TV. People analyse TV too much sometimes that they fail to see rare occasions like this where a show is brought back for Entertainment purposes rather than simply ratings.

  4. As Cher sang “if I could turn back time…If I could find a way…” but she never was able to get her lost love back in the song either! Good luck Channel 9, you’re going to need it.

  5. Is Channel Nine so devoid of ideas that they have to bring back this crap? It just gives me one more reason along with Eddie everywhere to de tune channel nine on my TV.
