Stormworld actress up for US award

17yo actress Valentina Barron has been nominated for an award in the US for her performance in the Perth-produced children's series coming to Nine.

17 year old Australian actress Valentina Barron has been nominated for a Young Artist’s Award in the USA for her performance in Stormworld, the Perth-produced children’s series which is coming to Channel Nine.

Her competition includes Miranda Cosgrove from iCarly and Miley Cyrus from Hannah Montana.

Two of Barron’s Canadian co-stars Andrew Jenkins and Calum Worthy also scored nominations for Leading Young Actor while all three are up for an ensemble cast award against Modern Family and iCarly.

Barron plays the female lead character ‘Flees’ in the sci-fi drama series created and co-produced by Perth’s Great Western Entertainment and executive produced by Paul Barron. Having shot in Broome, Wanneroo, Singapore and Vancouver, the $11m series premiered last year in primetime on Canada’s sci-fi network, Space Channel.

Previous winners of the Young Artists Awards in the main television and feature drama categories include Drew Barrymore, River Phoenix, Molly Ringwald, Christina Appelgate, Christian Bale, Macaulay Culkin, Winona Ryder and Reese Witherspoon.

The winners will be announced at Studio City in Los Angeles on April 11th.
