TEN improves with Consolidated ratings

In Consolidated figures released for Sunday January 31st, TEN's shows gained extra boosts of up to 14%.

While more than 2.4m Australian viewers were glued to their screens watching the Federer v Murray match last week, 144,000 viewers were recording House to watch at a later time.

In Consolidated figures released for Sunday January 31st, TEN’s shows gained extra boosts of up to some 14%.

The OzTAM ratings system now tracks timeshifted (Consolidated) ratings amongst its viewing panel. A programme can now pick up extra viewers if it is watched within 7 days of its broadcast.

Traditional morning ratings are now known as Overnight results.

  1. Jason, it jumped out at me too. Perhaps TEN needs to move it to 7am for the christians who like to sleep in on a Sunday. After all God rested on the 7th day

  2. I always see the first and last ad because it takes a sec to grab the remote and when fast forwarding I always go a little too far then have to rewind to the start of the show. but while fast forwarding you do have to look at the screen to see when the show is back, and you still register what brands are advertsing. sometimes if I see a new or interesting ad flash up while fast forwarding I will go back to see what the ad was about. So I don’t think they really lose their effect like people think. If you have seen the same ad before you still recognise it while fast forwarding and the ad being in your memory means that its message is still delivered. I do have the 30 second skip facility but rarely use it because with the varying lengths of ad breaks you never know how many times to push it and it never works out exact, it is easier to just fast forward, the fast forward speeds are much better on a PVR than a VCR so I don’t get frustrated going at 8x, it works out very nicely.

  3. Well to the sponsors they can be very effective. For some reason on most DVR’s the last add doesn’t get skipped so who ever is the sponsor for the show gets lucky.

  4. Well the top 4 shows were on my recorder and i watched them the next day. Not that i have a ratings box but its what i did.

So David will these be a daily thing to come out? They are interesting to see.

  5. I guess one affect of the new system is it shows which programs are being recorded, if the percentage is high then maybe its a show that can be moved as people are more likely to record it anyway?

    Just a thought.
