TVS begins digital tests

Sydney community broadcaster is now transmitting in digital with a test signal on Digital 44.

Sydney community broadcaster is now transmitting in digital.

It follows a long campaign by the community sector to shift from analogue to digital television and not get left behind. The government finally came to the party with funding for the sector.

The TVS test signal can now be found on Digital 44. In most cases this will require viewers to re-scan their digital TV or set-top box.

Viewers experiencing interference to their existing digital channels should contact TVS on 02 9852 5000 or email [email protected].

  1. Just to clarify for those who are confused about Digital Forty-Four and TVS – TVS is on LCN (logical channel number) 44, but is being broadcast on UHF29. The D44 datacast trial — which does not include TVS — is broadcast on UHF35, and these services are the ones being discontinued.

  2. @Earthquake, yes Digital 44 is ceasing transmission, also tvs is is not using the whole mux. only around 6.5mbit(3 days a go or so may of changed) and not the full 23mbit so if the goverment wanted to add more channels later they still have room

  3. It’s not TVS shutting down but the Datacast trial which was seldom used

All 4x channels except 44 will cease on 30 April 2010

TVS is not impacted but NITV, Teachers TV etc are for those wathcing using this service. NITV is on paytv and Teachers on the web
