does it matter whether it is in HD or SD??? At least it is being broadcast Live- what is more important, whether it is being broadcast in HD or whether it is being shown live at all, the majority of viewers couldn’t give a rats whether it is HD or SD, and are thankful they don’t have to wait until 8:30pm to watch it.

  2. Its a public holiday in Tasmania as well (8 hour day) Will be watching. One hour less content in the replay is strange why not screen the whole broadcast at night as many people may not be able to see it durng the day.

  3. Thankfully it is live these days. I remember the media black outs of years gone when you would do everything you could not to find out any results prior to the prime time telecast just so you could watch the whole thing without knowing the winners.

  4. Pietro,

If you’re in a WIN area, how the hell are you going to get this in HD from an “alternative source,” as you put it?

Me? I’m not picky, so WIN’s unscaled SD broadcast on WIN HD will do the trick. I’m just thankful it’s live into every state this year!

  5. @Brad: yes, it’s a public holiday in Victoria (Labor Day), Adelaide (Adelaide Cup Day) and the ACT (Canberra Day).
This will be the third year in a row that the Oscars are shown live on free-to-air, but the first time the awards are shown live in WA.

  6. Presumably HD on Nine? But it won’t matter to WIN viewers since they don’t show anything in native HD.

Which means once again watching it from an alternative source.
