House of Payne wins NAACP awards

Cable comedy series Tyler Perry’s House of Payne has won four awards at the 41st Awards by The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People in the US.

The show revolving around a multi-generational family in Atlanta won comedy series, actress in a comedy series, supporting actor in a comedy series and supporting actress in a comedy series for Keshia Knight Pulliam.

The top drama series went to Lincoln Heights. Hill Harper won lead actor in a drama series for CSI: New York, and Jada Pinkett Smith earned lead actress honours for Hawthorne.

The Image Awards, which took place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, honours individuals as well as projects that promote diversity in the arts, including literature, cinema, music and television.
