House tops Timeshifted

House and The Good Wife gained the biggest Timeshifted audiences in Week 8, as drama continues to score from new data.

Top Gear‘s premiere episode rose from 1.68m viewers to 1.77m viewers after Consolidated figures were released for Week 7. That meant 86,000 had Timeshifted the show within the next 7 days, boosting its status as the #1 show of the week.

But the biggest rises went to House (up 135,000) and The Good Wife (up 100,000) against One Day Cricket.

NCIS also gained 88,000 -enough to see it move from #5 for the week to #3.

Drama continues to be the big winner in Timeshifting, with extra gains for Grey’s Anatomy (Ep 1, 97,000 / Ep 2 84,000), Desperate Housewives (96,000), Castle (96,000), Criminal Minds (91,000), Brothers and Sisters (89,000), Bones (88,000), Doctor Who (82,000), Cougar Town (75,000),  The Mentalist (74,000),  Burn Notice (72,000).

  1. Hi Guy,the only thing is advertisers would look at the first lot of figures not the second lot,as people would skip the ads when they are recorded.I certainly agree the ratings system now is ordinary

  2. I think it’s great that they are taking into account timeshifting.

Eventually they will also add how many watch the shows via the websites or mobile phones to get an even better picture.

  3. @ Craig (Buzz)

Well i disagree with you. Tonight for example i watched MKR, Grey’s and B&S while i pvr’d NCIS, Big Love and Top Gear. There is no way i could watch all these shows “live” so the only way i can view them is via pvr. It makes sense to count the ratings for these because i usually watch them on a night where i dont watch much.

However people are entitled to their opinions on this topic. The US has been donig it for eternity and its about time we followe suit. BTW i believe our ratings system needs a further overhaul now. We need to not have such long ratings periods. I believe we should adopt the American system or at least part of it. It would make for better viewing

  4. Still don’t like the idea of Timeshifted channel ratings,if you can’t watch it the night it screens it should’nt count.Overall it probably dos’nt make any difference. As the Top Shows and so on down down the list won’t change it will just have more numbers now represented

  5. These figures are only valid if everyone with a ratings box also has a pvr.
3000 ratings boxes are not enough to gauge the viewing habits (or advertising dollars) of Australia.

  6. I like they are getting real figures with the addition of PVRs and the like, should have been done years ago! But the catch is we (and the networks) don’t get the real numbers until a week or so later, guess if it means they are less trigger happy at pulling shows in the future all the better.
