ABC1 will broadcast Football: Women’s International, the Matildas match against DPR Korea live at 3:30pm AEDT this Saturday to NSW, ACT, Victoria and Tasmania.
The match at Brisbane’s Ballymore Stadium by Australia’s female football team is a warm up for the 2010 Womens Asian Cup to be held in Chengdu, China, between 19th – 30th May.
This telecast will also include a 30-minute highlights package of the Matildas mid-week friendly match against DPR Korea played today.
Hosting the telecast will be former Matildas player Amy Taylor (pictured), with commentary from ABC sports broadcaster, Peter Wilkins and former Matilda, Alicia Ferguson.
“These international ‘friendly’ games against DPR Korea are a great build up for the Asian Cup and they’ll give Matildas fans a chance to see their favourite players in action,” says Amy.
“The games will be an excellent indicator of where the team is and what needs extra work.
“For the players it’s a super opportunity to prove their worth and secure a place in the final squad.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing how some of the younger players step up to international level, and it’s always enjoyable watching players like Heather Garriock, Sarah Walsh and Kathryn Gill.
“The Matildas have had some very tough and tight matches against North Korea, so these games will be a good measure of Australia’s readiness for the Asian Cup.”

Peter Wilkins is a downer, but go girls!
@Jed and Pete: unfortunately the match will be shown on delay in QLD (where the match is held), SA, NT and WA.
Surely the national broadcaster has no excuse not to broadcast it live into WA?
Thanks for that-interesting it’s on a delay here in QLD.
Good on ABC! It would never be seen on the commercial channels sadly…
Doesn’t the lovely Amy Taylor still read the weekday sports for regional NSW viewers on WIN News? Is she still at WIN, or is this just a casual gig?
Does South Australia get to see it??
No, the match will be shown in Queensland, but on a 60-minute delay.
QLD should’ve joined daylight saving then! But they won’t.
Ironically QLD won’t see this-even as it’s played in Brisbane.
