ONE turns up the heat

Big ticket events including the Australian Grand Prix, AFL, Twenty20 IPL and Commonwealth Games swimming team trials are coming to ONE.

ONE steps up the pace on a number of sports over the coming week.

Formula 1 season starts this weekend. ONE’s Season Preview show airs 7.30 tonight before the Qualifying race airs 10pm Saturday and the first race from Bahrain airs at 10pm Sunday.

Cricket’s 3rd edition of the Twenty20 IPL begins late Friday night – all 60 games are exclusive to ONE with lots of doubleheaders coming up.

The Women’s Australian Open in Golf airs this weekend. Last weekend’s Australian Ladies Masters was the first time an Aussie sporting event had an all-female commentary team in Liz Ellis, Jane Crafter, Sandra MacKenzie and Kate Burton. They all return this weekend.

Swimming: Australian Championships  features the selection trials for Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games from Homebush over 6 nights from Tue 16 to Sun 21 March. This consists of an hour of highlights from morning heats at 6.30pm, then Live finals coverage from 7.30pm AEDT (7pm SA, 6.30pm QLD, 4.30pm WA).

The Netball ANZ Championship season begins March 20th with up to 5 games a week exclusively on ONE.

The 2010 Australian Grand Prix and the start of the AFL season will air the following week.

March 26th marks one year on air for ONE.

  1. I know the anti-siphoning rules are a bit of a mess really, but if Foxtel can show the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics, it’s ridiculous if ONE (and other digital spin-offs) can only simulcast coverage of Ten.

  2. I can’t wait for the Commonwealth Games – although whether Ten can show it on One without showing it on Ten, I’m not sure. If they can, having wall to wall Comm Games on One will be great – especially since it’s free.

  3. Credit to ONE for showing live sport into all centres (particularly WA) – I can only hope that other FTA networks will take notice and one day follow suit. Also keep up the great work on F1 and AFL coverage – looking forward to the 2010 seasons kicking off!

  4. Each and every month, ONE are showing more and more first run content and with it, more and more live sport. It has constantly been ‘bashed’ for showing repeats upon repeats, but that is fast changing.

For example, this coming Saturday, from midnight to midnight, there will be more than 20 hours of first run content and more than 16 hours of live sport.

  5. Is there any news on when ONE will be on Foxtel sattelite? Its a bit annoying having to use a set top box for one channel when the others can be viewed on Foxtel
